Artist's Statement

While ecology, spirituality, gender, cross-cultural connections, and geopolitical power struggles have been inspirations for my work, much of my recent body of work has been devoted to tree imagery.

Versatility and experimentation have formed my art over the years. Utilizing paint, mixed media, sculpture and computer technology to create works, I have also developed large and small-scaled installations. Fascinated by texture, my work often assumes an organic quality.

My Studio

After 26 years in the same San Francisco studio complex, I and 41 other artists lost our lease on that space in November of 2015. Transitions are almost always difficult, but after looking for several months I found a beautiful workspace at  ICB in Sausalito. One side of my studio looks out at Mount Tamalpais and the other faces a line of beautiful trees.  It is a new life, and I look forward to many happy creative days in this environment.  You can check out all the talented artists here.

Bio

After a career in the advertising and public relations industry, I began my art career in the 1980's . My work has been exhibited extensively in the U.S., as well as group shows in Hong Kong, Paris, Mexico, Japan, Korea and Italy. I was a nominee for the SFMOMA SECA award and the U.S. Art in Embassies Program selected my paintings for exhibition. My work has twice been chosen for "Selections,"  a juried competition of the SF Open Studios. I have been a member of the Alliance of Women Artists, an international coalition dedicated to the support of women in the visual arts, and participated for twelve years in the Global Culture Center dedicated to promotion of an international exchange of art and culture.
